10 Easy Ways to Make Money in College

By Brittany Loeffler on October 22, 2016

It’s Friday night and your friends want to go out to dinner, catch a movie, and maybe go to a bar afterward. After a week of studying for exams, writing papers, and giving presentations, you’re definitely ready to go out and have some fun.

The one thing that’s stopping you? Money.

We all get it. It’s hard to balance schoolwork, a social life, and working. Luckily with the advancement of technology you can make some extra cash on the side right from your computer at all hours of the day.

1. Start a Blog

If you have something that you are passionate about and have a desire to write about it to share with others who are interested as well, start a blog! Depending on your audience reach, and the nature of your blog, you can be paid for advertisements and sent free products to review on your blog.

Running a blog can take a lot of work, but if it is about something you love you’ll enjoy every second of it.

2. OneClass

You go to class,  you pay attention to the professor, and you take diligent notes to study from before the exam. It’s something you do every day, so why not get paid for it?

With OneClass you are paid for uploading your notes so others can use them to study. Not only are you making money, but you’re helping fellow classmates.

3. Pet Sitting

Do you need to fill that empty void of having a puppy around? If so, pet sitting might be right for you! With Rover.com you can create a profile for pet owners to search and decide if you are qualified to take care of their pooch while they are away.

It’s extremely flexible, letting you pick your own hours and duties as a pet sitter. You can stay at the owner’s home or have the owner drop their dog off at your home. It’s up to you!

4. Surveys

There are many websites out there that offer payment when you take surveys. Sometimes this payment is in the form of gift cards to a certain store or restaurant, cash, or points that you must then convert to cash prizes. Either way, it is some extra money in your pocket and all you have to do is answer some questions.

Here is a list of websites that offer paid surveys:

Do you love keeping up with new shows that air throughout the year? Get paid to sit in front of your television and enjoy the shows you already love with RewardTV! All you have to do is answer some questions about the episode and you can make up to $20 extra per month. What can be easier than that?

7. Bing

Your go-to search engine is probably Google, because why not? If you change your search engine to Bing, you can earn some cash just by searching what you would search using Google. So, next time you have a research paper to write, switch over to Bing to make some extra cash while completing your assignment.

9. Graphic Design

If you enjoy using Photoshop and think you have what it takes to work with clients to create a logo for them, try Fiverr. Create a profile and upload previous work you have done, and set a price for your work. If customers like what they see, they will ask you to design a graphic for them.

10. Start Your Own Business

It sounds scary, but it can be easy if you are doing something you love. If you’re an English major and you have friends who need their papers edited, charge them a certain amount per page to edit and revise their papers. Do you enjoy cleaning? Reach out to your friends who throw parties on the weekend and clean up the mess on Saturday morning.

A simple service can go a long way, especially if it is something others are not fond of doing.
